Join Carrie Krekoski as she takes us through the 2024 CIHC Competency Framework, what’s new, and why it matters for how we learn, work, and collaborate in healthcare.
This afternoon virtual event, Monday October 19th provides an excellent overview of the new Canadian Interprofessional Health Collaborative (CIHC) Competency Framework for Advancing Collaboration (2024) and explores the significant evolution of interprofessional collaboration competencies since the original 2010 framework.
The 2024 CIHC Competency Framework is more than an update of terminology. It reflects a broader shift toward relationship-focused, inclusive, equity-informed, and context-responsive collaboration, recognizing persons, care partners, and team members as active participants in shared decision-making and collaborative care (CIHC).
Participants will gain insight into the evidence-informed refresh process, the rationale for change, and the implications for education, practice, leadership, and the health system.

Carrie Krekoski is Assistant Director, Education with UBC Health, where she leads and supports the strategic development, implementation, and evaluation of interprofessional and integrated practice education initiatives. Her work includes the development of the Gateway Team-Based Care Teaching Clinic, a purpose-built interprofessional primary care teaching environment focused on team-based care, learning, and innovation.
Carrie is also a Director with the Canadian Interprofessional Health Collaborative (CIHC) and has contributed to advancing interprofessional education and collaborative practice nationally, including work related to the CIHC Framework for Advancing Collaboration. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor in UBC’s Faculty of Dentistry, where she teaches in areas including professionalism, communication, behaviour change, and patient- and client-centred care. She holds an MEd from Simon Fraser University and a BSc in Dental Hygiene from UBC and is currently completing doctoral studies in educational leadership and policy.
