The history of WCCHSE began over 35 years ago. Originally known as the BC Lab Educators, this dedicated group of educators came together to support one another in advancing clinical skills education. We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to the founding members Cheryl Entwistle (Retired UBC), Leslie Stuart (Retired North Island College), and Marilyn Lewthwaite (Retired Douglas College) as early leaders of BC Lab Educators.

As simulation technologies emerged in education in the early 2000’s, members of BC Lab Educators embraced the opportunity to learn together, explore new teaching methodologies, and develop expertise in simulation pedagogy. Through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and a commitment to educational excellence, the expanding team of educators helped shape the use of simulation-based learning across health professions education in British Columbia. What began as a network of educators supporting laboratory and clinical skills instruction became a vibrant community of practice dedicated to advancing simulation, health sciences education, and educator development.

As we continue to evolve and grow, WCCHSE welcomes educators from all health science programs. Please use this site and WCCHSE events as a resource to support the education of future healthcare providers.
